Dear Colleagues, These are challenging times. We are facing the most unique circumstances that I don’t think any of us could have imagined at the beginning of this year. I am writing to all of you with a message of CALM and HOPE with an effort to share RESOURCES of the ACF and our industry.
The message of CALM should be familiar to all of us. It is easy to manage when times are good. The challenge for all of us is how we manage when things are not so good. Remaining calm in a sea of turbulence allows us to keep a firm grip on the steering wheel of our future. I will encourage us all to remain calm and approach the challenges as best we can. Those we work with and teach, as well as our friends and family are counting on us to remain calm and focus on what we can do to improve and deal with our challenges instead of panic.
The message of HOPE allows us to think forward. Things will not always be as they are today. Those that think outside the box have already made adjustments. Restaurants and Caterers are focusing on preparing packaged meals to go and curbside pick-up vs. serving meals in large groups. There are many colleagues that have donated to the less fortunate and assisted with ensuring their hospitality teams are taken care of. We have altered the way we teach by going remote, but not altered the passion for hospitality. All of these actions and changes should provide us hope. This should be our message to all in and outside our industry.
Lastly, I want to share RESOURCES. My message of CALM and HOPE is reinforced with all of the resources that are available to us. Please use them and please feel free to share more with our Chapter so that we may move forward together. None of us are alone in this battle and we look forward to the future with optimism:
